Micky and Bessie inspired these stories through their remarkable ability to understand family routines, recognise opportunities and occasionally outwit the humans around them.
Meet The Dogs
Micky
Adventurous, mischievous and often inclined to act before thinking. He enjoys teasing his sister Bessie, but his loyalty and courage come to the fore whenever his friends are in danger.
Bessie
More cautious than Micky, Bessie likes to consider the dangers before rushing into an adventure. She loves food and attention, but beneath her occasional anxiety lies intelligence, determination and surprising courage.
Pickle
Curious, sensitive and inventive, Pickle has a talent for noticing things others overlook. His ingenuity often proves invaluable when the dogs find themselves in difficult situations.
Nina
Nina is a young Italian girl, whose courageous, independent and resilient character has been shaped by her life experiences. She shows flashes of good humour and a capacity for positive mischief throughout the adventure.
Her inquisitive nature leads to the first meeting Micky and Bessie but it’s her determination that enables their friendship to develop and endure.
Charles Oakley lives in the North East of England with his family and, of course, dogs.
